It is rightly said that to read history is good, but even more interesting and fascinating is to help in making history. What we did in Patna on 26th August 2007 was precisely that. We made history by forming the East Central Zone Insurance Employees’ Association (ECZIEA) – the eighth crown of the All India Insurance Employees’ Association (AIIEA). The ECZIEA was formed consequent to the opening of a new zonal office at Patna in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds like liberalization, privatization and globalization. Right from the day one, the organization had made bold to declare that having made history we cannot rest quiescent. Immediately after its birth the ECZIEA had taken a firm resolve to play its due role to protect public sector insurance, to secure and safeguard our hard won trade union and democratic rights by forging broader alliances and also to sweep away the dirt and the poverty and misery from our society.
